A few months ago I got to do a DNA test offered by Donor detectives. Because I help donor conceived people search for their donor fathers.
And I was not even in one DNA test and that was not possible. That is why I tested my DNA and it was sent to America, to familytreeDNA. My results, my Genetic make up can be seen in my video:
In the video I say "huh where is the west?" I mean where has western Europe gone. Because my ancestors to how far I am now usually all come from the Netherlands or Germany and that is Western Europe. Dutch DNA does not exist, so it is said that the Dutch often have British or English DNA.
When I received my results from familytreeDNA I immediately downloaded my raw DNA and uploaded it to myheritage where I create my family tree. After a few days my DNA was processed and it turned out that I had a different result in terms of genetic make up.
My familytreeDNA results:
- 97% European -
56% British
38% Scandinavian
3% South-East European (Italy, Greece, Western Balkan states of Bulgaria, Croatia.)
Trace results:
> 1% Ashkenazi (Jewish)
> 1% Sephardic
> 1% Eastern Europe
> 1% Asia Minorminoe
My Myheritage results:
- 98.6% European -
57.4% Scandinavian
41.2% North and West European
- 1.4 African -
1.4% North African
If I read back articles online, I have about the same countries and it should be about right. Because some of these countries the DNA looks alike, for example, and because of all the migration and stuff. But what I like most is that I uploaded my DNA to myheritage, I now know for sure (even if I already was) who my biological father is. And he literally got half of his genes. Exactly 50%. (Some inherit less DNA, some sometimes inherit more DNA from their parents.)
