Review serie about donor conceived people: Sisters

I started watching the serie Sisters. It was first only broadcast in Australia, but you can finally watch it on Netflix. It is a series about donor conceived people. Sisters is a series about doctor Julius Bechly who has used his own sperm to conceived children. The story mostly revolves around the lives of Julia Bechly, Roxy Karibas, and Edie Flanagan. Julia grew up with her father, her mother has died young and her father is dying. Her father made her send a letter to the newspaper. They mention him, without knowing what it said they sent the letter. When the news broke after that, newspapers and TV spread all over the media that Julius Bechly confessed to having fathered more than 100 children with his own sperm. Until then, she believed she was still an only child, but now she wants to meet her half-siblings.

She organizes a family reunion to give away DNA tests to see who all her siblings are. During that reunion, Julia finds out that the boy she had previously sex with was conceived in her father's practice. And so possibly is her half-brother. She gets drunk and makes a fool of herself on TV. They also find out that there are only 3 sisters and for the rest there are only brothers. Roxy Karibas sings a song and had all the cameras with him and word through the TV. Edie Flanagan is a lawyer against Julius Bechly for ruining so many families and changing parent-child relationships. At one point, the sisters bond and one of their brothers lives in their home with Roxy who had a fight with her parents because she wanted to get to know Julius. Roxy and Edie's mothers eventually confess that they knew Julius was their biological father. Edie's mother also tells Julia that her mother was actually a patient at the clinic at first. After Julia was born, he stopped donating sperm. The life of the 3 sisters and their brothers is not the easiest. If you find out that you've had sex with one of your brothers and that one of your other brothers is in prison and another brother lives in your house with another sister, your life will be turned upside down.

The series ends with a cliffhanger. A woman who believes she is also one of Julius' children had to take a DNA test to prove she is his kid. Because she was afraid not to be a sister, she removed a DNA swab from Julia, while she was sleeping. That DNA doesn't match with Julius' DNA... Did something go wrong with Julius' DNA test or is he really not her biological father? And will Roxy's mother ever find her daughter they had to put up for adoption when she was young? And is Julia going to have a relationship with the boy who was actually her half brother in the first place?

There are many storylines that they can still work out. And now that Netflix has the rights, a lot of people are hoping that the ratings will be higher than they were in Australia on TV so that a second season is made. How many donor children, but also normal people want to see more of this story about the sisters. The series has 7 episodes in the first season. We don't know if there will be a second season, but we all hope that Netflix will make a new season of the series. Definitely a must have to watch.
