After this video I started writing this:
Dear father, wait, no you are not.
You are actually a man who put his sperm in a cup in 1998 at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. With blond hair that used to be bald, and brown eyes. I also know that you have a little brother, you grew up on the farm and first started studying economics at university, but later you went to study political science. You went to Amsterdam for that and you still live there and you work in The Hague. And that's about an outline of what I know about you. Oh yes and also that on the last page of your donorpaper you actually wrote a very large profile sketch of information about yourself. You have written many details. Funny when I always give information about myself, I do it with a lot of details. Dear donor, Let's have a drink together. I don't like coffee, just give me something fresh. And what do you order? I'm talking first about your probably beautiful brown eyes that you gave me. Or are we talking about our past, or maybe family? I'm already thinking what to ask you and if some of the questions aren't weird. You probably ask me how I am doing, how is school? And in my daily life? I will listen carefully to your voice. For now you are everything I can imagine to be. You are a writer, singer, director or maybe a politician, or an entrepreneur. In the past I always imagined as a child that you were Paul van Loon because of that he is also bald just like you. I still have to think about things I want to ask. But the only question I want to ask you for sure is ... Have you ever thought about the offspring produced by your sperm? Do you even know how many children were born from your sperm ... Let's have a drink together so I can match you with the face that I've wondered about and what it looks like for more than half my life ... And that only at the age of 16 years old. I drew young faces ... hoping he would look like yours. Every time I was in Amsterdam ... every bald man I saw .... I thought it could be you ... Maybe we've passed each other once without knowing about each other ... I hope you have read my request to meet you and think: there is a child who wants to know who I am and I would help the child as best I can. And I hope you don't think this when you receive my request to meet you: oh no, not another donor conceived person that I have to speak to. I hope you look at me, maybe with a proud face. You can be proud of me. My mothers tried their best to make me a good person. I think they succeeded.
Love, Your donor conceived daughter Joëlle
